Welcome to 2013, Friends! I’ve had a quiet holiday. Well, writing wise anyway… Personally I was back and forth across the ocean enough times to give me vertigo.
Let’s see, first I went to the US for some pre-
craziness Christmas family time. Christmas Eve I…let me put it this way:
Dec 24: Christmas Eve breakfast with US family. Fly to LGA. Cab to JFK. Work to London.
25: Land in LHR. Drive 2 hours. Christmas all day.
26: Drive 2 hours to LHR, work to JFK. Fly on back to Georgia.
28: Drive 7 hours to another family home.
30: Fly to LGA. Cab to JFK. Work to London.
31: Land in London. Have fab New Year’s Eve.
Jan 1: Work to JFK. Shower & change in airport. Fly back to London.
2: Whoo hoo! Arrive back home in London…where I get to sit still for a bit.
What’s my point? I had snarky a multiple choice option here, but let’s be honest: it’s just there for me to look at on days when I feel lazy. You know, to remind me that I earn a day in my pyjamas every once in a while. (Uh, right?) Cause sometimes travel privileges are a double-edged sword. It’s hard to say no to anyone when you can get around at the drop of a hat and everyone knows it. The company should be thrilled – having family obligations in your layover city is a great way to guarantee you show up to work. I should pass along that idea to them…
Anyhow, this is just me ringing in the new year. I’ll have an announcement soon about my new writing adventures. But first I’ll “take you on a trip” this weekend to London’s newest landmark, The Shard. Until then…happy 2013!
